St.Lucia On A Budget

St. Lucia is defintely a chosen destination of the rich and famous, with big name visitors such as Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon, Ludacris and Fantasia to name a few, and ultra luxury resorts like Jade Mountain and Sugar Beach.

But even if you’re not a celebrity with deep pockets, it’s entirely possible to enjoy the magic and splendour of St. Lucia, on a budget.

Firstly, while luxury accomodation may cost you up to US $2,000 per night, there are many beautiful, affordable options that you can find on sites like AirBNB. Spice Bay Suites for example, costs US$109 per night, including breakfast. The views at Spice Bay are breathtaking, the food is delicious, the apartments are spacious, beautiful and comfortable, and at a fraction of the cost of a high end hotel. There are many other reasonably priced options you can find on AirBNB.

Secondly, find an apartment where you can cook some of your meals if you want to save money, and eat at restaurants that cater to locals rather than tourists to save on food costs.

Thirdly, you can enjoy St. Lucia without spending lots of money if you just take advantage of what’s free and cheap. For example, visiting the sulphur springs and taking a warm theraputic mud bath will cost you about US $11.

All the beautiful beaches are free, you can take in the breathtaking beauty of the Island for free by stopping at the various view points around the Island. There is a small fee for visiting waterfalls and historic parks such as Pegion Point and Balenbouche Estate, where you can see the remains of the long standing battle between the French and the English for St. Lucia, and the remains of an old sugar plantation that operated during the slave trade.

St. Lucia is full of natural beauty that you can enjoy without having to spend lots of money, and it’s entirely possible to experience it’s splendor on a budget. If you need help planning a budget friendly vacation, contact us at Spice Bay Suites.
